Welcome to the Superintendent’s Advisory Team (SAT) Webpage!
The Superintendent’s Advisory Team is comprised of parents representing each school in the Coos Bay district. We meet at Milner Crest Education Center, 1255 Hemlock Ave in Coos Bay on the first Monday of each month at 12:00 noon except for January which meeting January 3rd.
If you have a concern as a parent, please contact the building administrator or one of these team members for the process for addressing the concern.
Our purpose is to assist the superintendent so that he can make informed decisions positively affecting student growth and achievement. We collaboratively develop policies and Title plans for our district. We also will be educated about professional development, data, assessment, law and policy so that we can share that knowledge and help other parents understand and engage in school decisions. We advise our principals as well and take part in parent committees including Title, Site Council and PTA/PTSA. We are the conduit for information and the voice for all parents- especially those who cannot attend events or be engaged in school due to barriers.
We serve communication and parent empowerment in Coos Bay Schools. We work in collaboration with administrators to understand the needs and goals of our schools. We participate in site council, title planning, and other parent groups as we are able. We advise the district on issues including improving parent and community communication. We listen to other parents and serve as an information conduit between parents and the district. Sometimes that means we bring issues up to the superintendent, other times it means we refer these parents to district staff or educate them on the issues with which they are concerned.
