The Marshfield softball team used an offensive outburst to claim the Sky-Em League championship with a doubleheader sweep over North Bend on Friday.
The Pirates rallied from a 7-4 deficit in the sixth inning and were down to their final our three times before earning an 8-7 victory. In the nightcap, Marshfield won a slugfest, 19-13, to win the league title. The title gives Marshfield a first-round bye and an automatic berth into the state playoffs.
Marshfield is hosting Glide in a tune-up game at 5 p.m. Wednesday.
In the nightcap, Gracie Peach had two hits, including a double, drove in three runs and scored four for the Pirates. Makenna Johnson had two hits and three RBIs, Tatum Montiel had two hits and drove in two runs, Natalie Jadin had two hits and two runs, Paige Macduff scored twice and Jocelyn Mulkey had two hits and an RBI and also pitched the final three innings in relief of Jayla Johnson.
